How we put this guide together
We haven't bought a rug from Rug Styling, so this isn't a hands-on review and we don't give it a star rating. Everything below comes from Rug Styling's own site (rugstyling.com): its homepage, Shipping & Returns page, FAQ, Terms of Service, six product pages and the store's public product list (8,830 listings, of which 3,678 were available). We also looked for independent reviews on Trustpilot and Google, and checked when the domain was registered. All of it was read on September 28, 2026.
What Rug Styling sells
Rug Styling sells handmade vintage and antique rugs online. Every listing is a single rug: once it sells, it's gone, and the store says it doesn't carry reproductions or machine-made pieces.
On September 28, 2026, the store had 3,678 rugs available. (The homepage says "10,000+ rugs ready to ship"; the store's own product list showed fewer available that day.) The largest groups:
| Style | Rugs available |
|---|---|
| Oushak (Turkish) | 515 |
| Kilim (flat-woven) | 429 |
| Tulu (Turkish, long pile) | 400 |
| Malayer (Persian) | 160 |
| Moroccan | 156 |
| Heriz (Persian) | 121 |
There are also Sivas, overdyed, Hamadan, Tabriz, Kars and a long tail of other regional styles. About 940 of the available rugs are runners (long, narrow rugs for hallways), and there's a good spread of small accent rugs, room-size rugs and oversized pieces.
What "antique" means here
Rug Styling's FAQ defines an antique rug as one made in 1920 or earlier, semi-antique as 1920–1950, and anything younger as vintage. The product titles don't always follow that: several rugs titled "Antique" say "Circa: 1930" or "Circa: 1940" in their own descriptions, which is semi-antique by the store's own definition. If age matters to you, read the "Circa" line in the description, not just the title.
What it costs
These are handmade, one-off rugs, and prices reflect that. Across the 3,678 rugs available on Sep 28, 2026:
- Lowest price: $102
- Middle price (median): about $2,879
- Under $1,000: 350 rugs, mostly small accent rugs and some runners
- Under $5,000: 2,743 rugs
- Highest price: $159,999
Some examples from the day we checked:
| Rug | Size | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Vintage Oushak, red field | 3'5" x 5'3" | $532.33 (shown as reduced from $960) |
| Antique Anatolian prayer rug, circa 1940 | 3'0" x 4'0" | $639 |
| Antique Oushak, circa 1930 | 2'7" x 4'3" | $799 |
| Antique Karaje (Persian) | 3'6" x 4'4" | $959 |
| Vintage Anatolian, coral field | 3'9" x 5'8" | $959 |
About 120 listings show a crossed-out "regular" price. We couldn't check whether rugs actually sold at those higher prices before, so we'd judge each rug on its current price alone.
Is Rug Styling legit? What we could and couldn't verify
This is the part to read before you spend a few thousand dollars.
What checks out:
- The store is active: products were in stock and the checkout worked when we tested a discount code (we didn't complete a purchase).
- It posts new rugs regularly on Instagram (@rugstyling), and a UK bag brand, Prettysac, sells a co-branded tote describing Rug Styling as a New York-based rug company.
- It accepts PayPal and Venmo as well as major cards, and charges you when your order ships, not when you order.
What we couldn't verify:
- Who runs it. The site lists an email address (info@rugstyling.com) but no company name, street address or phone number, in the footer, the Shipping & Returns page or the Terms of Service.
- The "over 40 years" claim. The site describes a New York rug company with more than 40 years of experience. The rugstyling.com domain itself was registered in November 2020. The business may be older than its website, but we found nothing independent that confirms it.
- Customer reviews. There's no Trustpilot page for rugstyling.com, and we didn't find independent customer reviews on Google.
None of that means something is wrong. It does mean you're relying on the store's own descriptions and photos. For a large purchase, paying with PayPal or a credit card gives you buyer protection if a rug doesn't arrive or isn't as described.
Shipping, returns and payment
- Shipping: free on every order. Rugs ship from the USA by ground service and arrive in 1 to 7 business days in the continental US and Canada.
- Returns: email info@rugstyling.com within 7 days of delivery. The rug must come back in the condition it arrived, in its original packaging, and you arrange and pay for return shipping (the store recommends insuring it for the purchase price). There's no restocking fee, and an accepted return is refunded in full. Card refunds usually post in 3–5 business days; other methods can take up to 2 weeks.
- Exchanges: none, because every rug is unique. To swap, you buy the new rug and return the first one.
- Payment: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club, PayPal and Venmo.
Seven days is a short window for a rug, and shipping a large rug back at your own cost can be expensive. Measure your room and check the listed dimensions (each listing gives feet and centimetres) before you order.
Caring for a vintage rug
From Rug Styling's FAQ: vacuum gently about once a week, have the rug soak-washed by a handmade-rug specialist every 2–5 years (every 2 years in busy areas), don't steam-clean it, and rotate it once a year so it wears evenly. The store says its rugs are professionally cleaned before they're sold. A rug pad is optional; the FAQ says it only stops slipping and doesn't make the rug last longer.
How it compares with other ways to buy
| Rug Styling | Marketplaces (Etsy, eBay) | A local rug dealer | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Choice | Thousands of one-off rugs in one catalogue | Very large, many sellers | Limited to their stock |
| Seeing the rug | Photos front and back, dimensions, circa date | Varies by seller | In person |
| Returns | 7 days, you pay return shipping | Depends on each seller | Often home trials; depends on the dealer |
| Who you deal with | One store, email only | Many small sellers, with marketplace protection | A named business you can visit |
If you need to see and feel a rug before buying, a local dealer is the safer route. If you want a big catalogue of one-off pieces with free shipping and clear measurements, Rug Styling is worth browsing, as long as you're comfortable with the short return window.
Who it suits
Rug Styling suits shoppers in the continental US or Canada who want a genuinely one-of-a-kind handmade rug, know the size they need, and are happy to decide within 7 days of delivery. It's a weaker fit if you want to see a rug in person first, need a long return window, or want a well-documented company with independent customer reviews behind a purchase of several thousand dollars.
