How we put this guide together
On October 28, 2026 we went through the RAY'S COOKIES online store: its product data and prices, the product pages, the FAQ, the Our Story page, the corporate gifting page and the refund policy. We also put one Cookie Sampler in the cart to see real UPS shipping quotes for three US cities, then emptied the cart. We searched for independent reviews and did not find any, so the review numbers below come from the store itself. Nobody on our team has tasted these cookies yet, so this is a buyer's guide, not a taste test, and we do not give a star rating.
What RAY'S COOKIES sells
RAY'S COOKIES is a small gourmet cookie bakery in Seattle. According to its Our Story page, owner Raylynn Chao is a trained pastry chef with more than 12 years of professional baking experience, and the business started as a fundraiser for her daughters' cultural dance group. The store says its cookies are made in small batches, baked fresh daily in Seattle and shipped nationwide. It ships only within the United States.
Cookies are sold in bags of 2 or 5 per flavor, because, in the store's words, one simply isn't enough. Each cookie weighs 3.0 to 3.5 oz (shortbread is 2.7 to 3.0 oz), which is large for a cookie. Besides single flavors, the store sells a Cookie Sampler, a $45 premium gift box with 10 cookies, catering boxes from $119, a $40 cookie club subscription and custom logo cookies for companies.
The six products below are the ones we were asked to cover: the sampler box and five single flavors.
The 6 products
1. RAY'S COOKIES Cookie Sampler

The easiest way to try the bakery. You pick 4 flavors and get either 2 of each (8 cookies) or 5 of each (20 cookies). If you do not choose, the store sends Chocolate Chip & Sea Salt, Toffee & Caramel Chocolate Chip, Cookie Butter Chocolate Chip and Milk Chocolate & Macadamia Nut. Price on October 28, 2026: $32 for 8 cookies or $80 for 20. The product page shows 64 reviews, 94% of them five stars and 6% four stars. It suits first-time buyers and gift senders who do not know the recipient's favorite. Drawback: featured and seasonal flavors, such as the Sweet Magnolia collection, cannot go into the sampler.
2. RAY'S COOKIES Toffee & Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies
Photo: RAY'S COOKIES
A brown butter cookie with toffee chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips and a creamy caramel center. Price on October 28, 2026: $8 for 2 cookies or $20 for 5. It suits people who like a rich, sweet cookie with some crunch. Drawback: with a caramel center and toffee, it is one of the sweeter choices, so it may be too much for someone who prefers a plain cookie.
3. RAY'S COOKIES Cookie Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Another brown butter base, this time filled with cookie butter and mixed with white and milk chocolate chips. The store compares the flavor to spiced speculoos biscuits. Price on October 28, 2026: $8 for 2 or $20 for 5. It suits fans of spiced cookie spreads. Drawback: no dark chocolate here, so it is a sweet, creamy cookie rather than a bittersweet one.
4. RAY'S COOKIES Chocolate Chip & Sea Salt Cookies

The classic: a semi-sweet chocolate chip cookie finished with sea salt. Price on October 28, 2026: $8 for 2 or $20 for 5. It suits anyone who wants a safe pick for a group, and it is one of the default flavors in the sampler. Drawback: if you want something new and unusual, this is the least surprising of the six.
5. RAY'S COOKIES Brookie Cookies
Photo: RAY'S COOKIES
Half brownie cookie, half chocolate chip cookie, described by the store as fudgy and soft. Price on October 28, 2026: $8 for 2 or $20 for 5. It suits chocolate lovers. Drawback: it is not one of the sampler's default flavors, so you need to pick it yourself when you order a sampler.
6. RAY'S COOKIES Lemon Strawberry Cookies
Photo: RAY'S COOKIES
A lemon cookie with strawberry bits and white chocolate chips on top of a crispy vanilla wafer base. Price on October 28, 2026: $8 for 2 or $20 for 5. It suits people who want something lighter and fruity next to all the chocolate. Drawback: the white chocolate and wafer base still make it a sweet cookie, not a tart one.
What it costs
| Product | 2 cookies | 5 cookies |
|---|---|---|
| Toffee & Caramel Chocolate Chip | $8 | $20 |
| Cookie Butter Chocolate Chip | $8 | $20 |
| Chocolate Chip & Sea Salt | $8 | $20 |
| Brookie | $8 | $20 |
| Lemon Strawberry | $8 | $20 |
| Cookie Sampler (4 flavors) | $32 for 8 | $80 for 20 |
That works out to about $4 per cookie either way. Shipping is extra. With one $32 sampler in the cart on October 28, 2026, UPS Ground cost $8.42 to Seattle (1 day), $10.90 to Los Angeles (3 days) and $12.56 to New York (4 days). We did not see a free shipping threshold. The store's gifting page says gift box shipping usually runs $10 to $18.
What buyers say

Recent reviews on the store mention a grandmother sending a box to her grandson in his first year of college, a parent surprising a son who had just moved to Seattle, and cookies taken to a Super Bowl party in Florida. How it compares
- Supermarket cookies: far cheaper, but smaller and made for long shelf life. RAY'S COOKIES says it bakes daily and ships fresh.
- Local cookie chains: good if one is near you and you are buying for yourself. RAY'S COOKIES makes more sense when you want to send a box to someone in another state.
- RAY'S COOKIES: about $4 per cookie plus $8 to $13 shipping, big 3 oz cookies, a sampler and gift boxes. Better for gifts than for an everyday snack.
Delivery & returns
The store ships only within the United States, by UPS. Based on our cart test, Ground delivery took 1 to 4 days depending on distance, and faster UPS options were also offered. The store asks you to make sure the address is correct, because the cookies are perishable, and reorders for undelivered packages may cost extra.
Because cookies are perishable, RAY'S COOKIES does not accept returns and does not refund an order once it is paid. If something is wrong when the box arrives, the store asks you to take photos of the box and the damaged cookies right away and email them, with your tracking and order number, to cs@rays-cookies.com. Its FAQ also asks you to reach out within 24 hours if you do not love your cookies, and says it will do its best to make it right.
The store says the cookies stay fresh for up to 14 days in a sealed airtight container and can be frozen. To warm one up, it suggests 15 seconds in the microwave or 2 minutes in a 325°F oven.
Allergies: all cookies are baked in an open kitchen on shared equipment that handles dairy, eggs, gluten, soy, peanuts and tree nuts. The store says it cannot fully rule out cross-contact.
Who it suits / who should skip
Good fit: anyone sending a food gift to family, a college student or clients in another US state; people who like big, rich cookies; office hosts who want a sampler of several flavors.
Skip it if: you live outside the US, you or the person you are gifting has a severe nut or gluten allergy, you want free shipping, or you need the option to return an order.
