How we put this guide together
We haven't ordered from Nio Teas ourselves, so this isn't a hands-on review. Everything below comes from nioteas.com — individual product pages, the ceremonial matcha and teaware collections, and the checkout itself — all read September 22, 2026, plus Nio Teas' independent Trustpilot business profile, checked directly on trustpilot.com. We did test Nio Teas' 10% code at a real checkout (details in "Using the code").
What Nio Teas sells
Nio Teas is a Japanese green tea and matcha retailer registered in Lausanne, Switzerland, that sources directly from small family farms across Kyoto, Shizuoka, Kagoshima and Fukuoka. The catalog covers ceremonial-grade matcha (over 20 single-farm matchas as of this writing), loose-leaf teas (sencha, gyokuro, hojicha, genmaicha, bancha, kukicha and more), matcha latte powder, teaware (bamboo whisks, bowls, kyusu teapots), and two seasonal 24-day advent calendars — one all-matcha, one mixed Japanese green teas. The brand says every farm it works with grows without pesticides, and several product pages carry an "Inventory impacted by the matcha shortage" notice, tying back to the well-documented 2024-2025 global matcha supply crunch.
What it costs
Single-origin ceremonial matchas we checked range from $16.90 for a 30g beginner-friendly option (Okumidori Matcha Noike, smoother and less bitter, aimed at people new to matcha) up to $41.00 for higher grades like Wazuka Tea Nakai Superior — working out to roughly $56 to $137 per 100g depending on the cultivar and farm. The brand's best-selling matcha, Washimine Ceremonial Matcha Tea, runs $39.00 for 30g ($130/100g) and carries 213 reviews at a 5.0-star average on its own product page. A Matcha Bamboo Whisk (chasen) is $14.00, and Premium Matcha Latte Powder is $24.75 per 100g. The two 2026 Advent Calendars are $109.00 each (24 days of matcha, or 24 days of mixed green teas) and are currently sold under a "Reserve yours" pre-order model rather than immediate checkout, shipping mid-November; the product page for both says they sold out in under three weeks in 2025. Shipping is free worldwide above $55.
What buyers say
Nio Teas' own Trustpilot page (trustpilot.com/review/nioteas.com, checked September 22, 2026) is a claimed profile active since January 2024, with a 4.6-out-of-5 TrustScore from 90 reviews — 89% five-star, 8% one-star, and nothing in between (0% two-, three- or four-star). That's a real, independently verifiable record, not a badge mismatch we've flagged on some other brands' sites. Forty-three of the 90 reviews were left in the last 12 months. Reviewers repeatedly single out tea and matcha freshness/quality and a responsive customer support team; one reviewer specifically mentioned a shipping/logistics issue on one order that they said the company handled reasonably. Trustpilot itself flags that Nio Teas "hasn't replied to negative reviews" — worth knowing if you're the type of buyer who checks how a company handles complaints, since the 8% one-star minority exists but doesn't appear to get public responses from the brand.
How it compares
We didn't do a full side-by-side pricing audit against other specialty ceremonial-matcha sellers (well-known names in this space include Ippodo Tea and Encha) [CẦN XÁC MINH — chưa kiểm chứng giá của các thương hiệu này]. What we can say from Nio Teas' own numbers: its entry-level single-origin matcha ($16.90/30g) undercuts what most ceremonial-grade specialty sellers charge for a comparable starter size, while its top-end farms ($40+/30g) sit closer to the premium end of the category. If you mainly want one reliable everyday ceremonial matcha rather than a rotating selection, it's worth comparing per-100g pricing directly against whichever specialty brand you're already considering.
Shipping and returns
Nio Teas advertises free shipping worldwide above $55 on its product pages; we did not find a published minimum-order threshold or expedited-shipping option separate from that during this guide. We were not able to locate a dedicated public returns/refund policy page linked from the product pages we checked [CẦN XÁC MINH — chưa tìm được trang chính sách đổi trả riêng, chỉ thấy Terms of Service chung]; email support (info@nioteas.com) is the contact route Trustpilot reviewers describe using for order issues.
Who it suits
Nio Teas suits someone who wants single-farm, traceable Japanese matcha or loose-leaf tea and is comfortable ordering direct from a small specialty retailer rather than a supermarket tea aisle — the $16.90 Okumidori Noike is a reasonable low-risk way to try the brand before committing to a pricier cultivar. It's a weaker fit if you want guaranteed in-stock ceremonial matcha right now: several listings carry a matcha-shortage inventory notice, and both advent calendars are currently reserve-only rather than immediate-ship.
Using the code
AvaCoup has a 10%-off code for Nio Teas that we tested ourselves at a real checkout on September 22, 2026: adding the Washimine Ceremonial Matcha Tea (30g, $39.00) to the cart and applying the code brought the total to $35.10, confirming a genuine 10% discount. We didn't find a stated minimum order or expiration date on the storefront, so treat those as unconfirmed until your own cart shows the discount.
