How we put this guide together

On October 14, 2026 we read Gryphon's website (gryphonconnect.com): the homepage, the product pages for the Atlas Max, Gryphon AX and re-certified Guardian, the parental control page, and the refund, shipping and terms pages. We checked prices and stock for US shoppers in US dollars and tested a discount code in the cart before emptying it. We also read independent reviews, including a 2026 parent review on TechLockdown and an older Tom's Guide review. Nobody on our team has used a Gryphon router yet, so this is a buyer's guide, not a hands-on review, and it has no star rating from us.

Who Gryphon is

Gryphon Online Safety makes Wi-Fi routers built around parental controls and network security, managed from the Gryphon Connect app for iOS and Android. Instead of installing an app on every phone, tablet or console, you set the rules once at the router, so they also cover devices like an Xbox or a smart TV. Gryphon says its routers work with any internet provider: you can replace your provider's router or use Gryphon alongside a modem/router combo. An optional Premium Protection subscription adds alerts for dangerous search terms, YouTube watch history and per-app time limits.

The big caveat right now: the Gryphon AX is sold out, and the new Atlas Max is a pre-order that is still waiting on FCC equipment authorization.

The 6 picks

1. Gryphon AX (sold out)

Gryphon's Wi-Fi 6 mesh router, the model most reviews cover. One unit covers about 3,000 sq ft, and each extra unit adds coverage. Forbes, quoted on Gryphon's homepage, called it the brand's fastest router at the time, with 4.3 Gbps of total wireless throughput. Listed price on October 14, 2026: $299 for one or $499 for a two-pack, but both were sold out and the homepage no longer lists the AX among its current models. Suits: families who want a proven Gryphon model, if it comes back. Drawback: you cannot buy it new right now.

2. Re-Certified Gryphon AX (sold out)

Re-certified Gryphon AXPhoto: Gryphon

A customer-return AX restored to Grade A condition, factory tested, with all accessories, a 1-year hardware warranty and a free 90-day Premium Protection trial for new accounts. Price on October 14, 2026: $179 instead of $299, but also sold out. Drawback: same as the new AX; check back for stock.

3. Gryphon Atlas Max (pre-order)

Gryphon's new flagship: a Wi-Fi 7 tri-band router (2.4, 5 and 6 GHz) rated up to 19 Gbps, covering up to 4,000 sq ft and more than 200 devices, with two 10GbE ports and three Gigabit LAN ports. Pre-order price on October 14, 2026: $499 against a $599 list price. You pay a $10 refundable deposit now, and the remaining $489 is charged when the unit ships. The product page says it ships in October 2026, while Gryphon's separate Atlas page has shown August and September dates. The page also said pre-order pricing ended October 10, 2026, yet the $499 price was still live four days later. Drawback: Gryphon states that Atlas Max is pending FCC equipment authorization and that delivery depends on it; if it is not approved, every payment, including the deposit, is refunded.

4. Gryphon parental controls

This is the reason most people look at Gryphon. You assign devices to a profile for each child, filter content by age (toddler, elementary, middle school, high school or adult), set daily screen time limits for apps, websites and devices, schedule homework time and bedtime, view browsing history even if your child deletes it, and approve or deny requests for more time from your phone. A 2026 parent review on TechLockdown praised the app-guided setup and the per-child browsing reports, but found the age filters can over-block: the elementary setting blocked the PBS Kids app until the reviewer switched to middle school.

5. Atlas Max: the security side

Beyond parental controls, Gryphon pitches the Atlas Max as a security gateway: AI-based intrusion detection that learns your network, automatic malware, phishing and hacker blocking for every connected device, protection for smart-home gadgets as soon as they join, instant alerts and WPA3 encryption. It uses an aluminum chassis with silent passive cooling. Suits: homes full of smart devices and parents who want one box to handle both Wi-Fi 7 speed and filtering. Drawback: these are the brand's own claims; we found no independent tests of the Atlas Max yet.

6. Re-Certified Gryphon Guardian (in stock)

Re-certified Gryphon GuardianPhoto: Gryphon

The cheapest way into Gryphon and the only router we found in stock to ship now. The Guardian works with your existing non-Gryphon router to add firewall security and parental controls, covering up to 1,800 sq ft per unit. Price on October 14, 2026: $39 instead of $99, re-certified to Grade A with a 1-year hardware warranty and a free 90-day Premium Protection trial for new accounts. Drawback: original packaging may be damaged, and it is an older, smaller-coverage model than the AX or Atlas Max.

What buyers and reviewers say

  • Press quoted by Gryphon: PCMag praised the easy age-based filters on the AX, and Fatherly called Gryphon the best parental control hardware around. These quotes are on Gryphon's own homepage.
  • TechLockdown (2026, a parent's review): setup through the app is simple and per-child reports are useful, but age filters can block too much.
  • Tom's Guide (2018, older model): strong controls for a router, but if you only want fast mesh Wi-Fi there are cheaper options.

How it compares

  • Your phone's built-in tools (Screen Time, Family Link): free, but they only cover phones and tablets, not consoles or smart TVs.
  • Mainstream mesh routers (eero, Netgear): often cheaper for pure speed, with lighter parental controls or a paid add-on.
  • Gryphon: controls every device at the router, at a higher price and, for now, with limited stock.

Shipping & returns

Gryphon offers a 90-day money-back satisfaction guarantee and a 12-month hardware warranty that covers breakage from normal use and power surges. Standard ground shipping by UPS is free, with orders processed Monday to Friday; one line of the shipping policy mentions the UK, another says US only. Once an order is in the system it cannot be changed, so email support@gryphonconnect.com quickly if you need to cancel. The Atlas Max deposit is refundable any time before your unit ships.

Who it suits / who should skip

Gryphon suits parents who want one place to control screen time and content on every device in the house, including consoles and smart TVs. Right now it suits buyers who can wait for the Atlas Max or who want the $39 Guardian to add controls to their current router. Skip it if you need a new router delivered this week, if you only care about raw speed, or if you would rather not pay a monthly subscription for the extra features.

Using the code

Our code took $10 off the Atlas Max pre-order when we tested it on October 14, 2026. Apply it at checkout and check the total before you pay; Gryphon can change or end its codes at any time.
