How we put this guide together
We haven't bought furniture from Canal Furniture, so this isn't a hands-on review. Everything below comes from Canal Furniture's own site (nyfurniture.com) — its homepage, Coupon Codes, Shipping Method, Return Policy and Our Reviews pages, all read September 16, 2026 — plus Canal Furniture's Trustpilot profile and a general web search for Better Business Bureau and Yelp coverage (both of those sites blocked our automated access, so we're only citing what search results show for them, not their own pages directly). We haven't tested any of Canal Furniture's Save-tier codes at checkout.
What Canal Furniture sells
Canal Furniture says it has operated since 1999, with a real showroom at 402 Broadway in Manhattan — on Canal Street, which explains the name, even though the site itself is hosted at nyfurniture.com — plus nationwide online shipping. It carries living room, bedroom, dining room and home office furniture, mattresses, bar stools and wall art, built around modern, contemporary and Italian design, including brand names that are genuinely hard to find at a US retailer: Alf Italia, Incanto Italian Attitude, Max Divani, J&M Furniture, BDI, Elite Modern and Mlily. It's a Shopify storefront with 0% financing available through Synchrony on select purchases, and it distinguishes between a large in-stock selection (faster delivery) and special orders (slower, and non-refundable — see Shipping and returns).
What it costs
There's no single "Canal Furniture price" — this is a full furniture catalog, not one product. For a sense of range (homepage listings, checked Sep 16, 2026): dining chairs and counterstools run roughly $400–$530, fabric armchairs $475–$530, a queen bed like the Vienna Contemporary starts "from $1,746," and larger pieces like the Infinity Extension Table list at $4,118. Sofas and beds are advertised at up to 50% off, dining tables up to 40% off and desks up to 45% off, on top of whatever seasonal sale is currently running.
What buyers say
Canal Furniture's own site cites a 4.8-out-of-5 rating from 16 reviews (a self-hosted Yotpo widget) and separately advertises "4.7 Google Rating" — both are the company's own numbers, not something we verified independently. One entry in that 16-review widget is worth flagging: a post attributed to "john s." isn't a review at all, it's a garbled block of ad copy promoting an unrelated furniture site ("Shop modern and contemporary furniture... at Sohomod...") — it reads like a misplaced spam post rather than a genuine customer review, which is worth knowing before you trust that 4.8 number at face value.
Independently, Canal Furniture's Trustpilot profile (checked Sep 16, 2026) shows 4.0 out of 5 from 35 reviews — 71% five-star, but 14% one-star — and only 3 of those 35 were posted in the last 12 months, so most of what's there dates back to 2018–2023 and may not reflect the store's service today. Recurring themes in the positive reviews: a salesperson named David is thanked by name in multiple reviews across several years for hands-on help, buyers repeatedly say Canal Furniture's prices beat other stores selling the same Italian brands (Alf Italia comes up again and again), and White Glove delivery crews are described as careful and on time. On the negative side: a 2019 review describes a contracted delivery company delaying an order for over a month with a new excuse each time; a 2023 review describes an order being cancelled after payment was taken, with Canal Furniture blaming a website pricing "glitch" the buyer says ran longer than the 24 hours claimed, offering only a discount code as compensation; and a December 2025 review — the most recent one we found — calls a piece "sleek and well-made" but says comfort was merely "decent" and delivery slower than expected for the price. We couldn't pull Better Business Bureau or Yelp data directly since both sites blocked our automated access, but search results describe Canal Furniture as not BBB-accredited, which is common for small retailers and isn't a red flag on its own.
How it compares
Trustpilot's own "People also looked at" panel on Canal Furniture's profile (checked Sep 16, 2026) surfaces the online furniture retailers shoppers compare it against:
| Canal Furniture | Grayson Living | Aliving Home | Scout & Nimble | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trustpilot score | 4.0 (35 reviews) | 4.2 (~1,000 reviews) | 4.0 (138 reviews) | 4.3 (654 reviews) |
| Real showroom | Yes — 402 Broadway, NYC | Online only, as far as we could tell | Online only, as far as we could tell | Online only, as far as we could tell |
| Focus | Italian & contemporary furniture | General contemporary furniture | General home furniture | Curated designer furniture |
Canal Furniture's score sits in the same range as these competitors, but on a much smaller and older review base — Grayson Living and Scout & Nimble have hundreds more recent reviews to judge consistency by. What sets Canal Furniture apart is the real NYC showroom and its specific lineup of Italian brands like Alf Italia and Max Divani, which most competitors in this table don't carry.
Shipping and returns
Nationwide delivery runs 7–20 business days for in-stock items (special orders take longer), through one of three tiers: basic Ground/Curbside delivery by a common carrier, Threshold delivery (to your door or garage, no stairs, no installation), or White Glove delivery (carried into the room of your choice, unpacked, debris removed). Cost varies by tier and item, and remote areas add $75–$125. Orders must be paid in full before shipping, and once confirmed, the delivery method can't be changed.
Read the return policy closely before you buy — it's stricter than most online retailers. You get 24 hours after delivery to inspect the item and report any claim. Change your mind about an undamaged item and you're responsible for a minimum 25% restocking fee, plus the original shipping cost and the cost of shipping it back — both directions, on you — and the item must still be unused, unassembled and in its original packaging. Don't confirm an order within 5 days of purchase and a 9.5% processing fee may apply. If nobody's available for a scheduled delivery, Canal Furniture charges $250 per week in storage fees until it can redeliver. Special orders can't be returned at all, for any reason.
Who it suits
Worth considering if you want real Italian-brand furniture — names like Alf Italia and Max Divani that are hard to find at a US retailer at all — at prices Trustpilot reviewers repeatedly say beat other stores carrying the same brands, and you're confident about what you're ordering, whether that's from photos online or a visit to the Manhattan showroom. Skip it if you're not fully decided: the 25%-restocking, pay-both-ways return policy makes "try it and send it back" expensive, and if you need fast delivery, since even in-stock items run 7–20 business days.
Using the code
Canal Furniture runs a storewide "spend more, save more" ladder instead of one flat discount:
| Code | Discount | Minimum order |
|---|---|---|
| Save500 | $500 off | $6,999+ |
| Save400 | $400 off | $5,999+ |
| Save300 | $300 off | $4,999+ |
| Save200 | $200 off | $3,999+ |
| Save150 | $150 off | $2,999+ |
| Save100 | $100 off | $1,999+ |
| Save75 | $75 off | $1,499+ |
| Save50 | $50 off | $999+ |
Canal Furniture's own coupon page contradicts itself on how these apply: one line says to enter a code at checkout, another says codes are "applied automatically." We can't resolve that from outside — it's on Canal Furniture's own page, not our mistake — so check your cart total against the table above before you pay either way. A ninth code, "FallSavings," is also listed there, but its discount amount isn't rendering on Canal Furniture's live site as of Sep 16, 2026 (a broken icon shows instead of a dollar figure), so we've left it out rather than guessing. Coupons can't be combined with each other, only one is allowed per household, and Canal Furniture notes some brands may be excluded from sale pricing — check the individual product page. This is a public code, not one issued specifically to AvaCoup, and neither we nor the store owner has tested it at checkout — confirm your total before paying.
