How we put this guide together
On October 10, 2026 we read Big Horn Olive Oil's product pages, its shipping, refund and terms pages and the reviews shown on its website. We also looked at local press coverage of the Reno store (Our Town Reno, December 2024) and at prices from two other olive oil tasting-room brands. Prices and stock below were checked on October 10, 2026. We have not tasted these oils ourselves.
What Big Horn Olive Oil sells
Big Horn Olive Oil is a Reno, Nevada olive oil and vinegar shop with two tasting rooms; local press dates its first store to September 2012. Online at bhooc.com it lists close to 100 products: extra virgin olive oils, olive oils infused or crushed with herbs, garlic and citrus, dark and white balsamic vinegars, wine and apple cider vinegars, sampler and gift sets, and pour spouts. The store says its bottles are shipped to customers within 1 to 3 months of harvest and that its extra virgin olive oil is never mixed with other oils. Most oils and vinegars come in two sizes: a 60 ml mini sample bottle and a 375 ml large bottle.
The 6 products
Tuscan Herb Olive Oil
Photo: Big Horn Olive Oil
An olive oil flavored with a blend of rosemary, oregano, thyme and sage. On October 10, 2026 it cost $8.99 for a 60 ml mini and $23.99 for a 375 ml bottle, both in stock. The store suggests it for chicken, roasted vegetables, vinaigrettes, bread dipping and marinades, and lists it as vegan and gluten-free. It suits home cooks who want one bottle that seasons a dish on its own. Drawback: the store recommends using its oils within 6 months for the best flavor, so a large bottle is only good value if you cook often.
Sicilian Lemon White Balsamic Vinegar
Photo: Big Horn Olive Oil
A white balsamic vinegar with a lemon flavor. $8.99 for 60 ml or $23.99 for 375 ml, in stock on October 10, 2026. The store pitches it for salads, seafood marinades, cocktails and desserts, and pairs it with its plain or citrus olive oils. It is one of the flavors customers mention most in the reviews on the store's site. It suits people who like bright, tart dressings. Drawback: white balsamic is a flavored condiment, not an aged traditional balsamic, so do not expect the thick, syrupy style.
Garlic Olive Oil
Photo: Big Horn Olive Oil
Extra virgin olive oil infused with fresh garlic. $8.99 for 60 ml or $23.99 for 375 ml, in stock on October 10, 2026. The store suggests it for sauteing, roasting vegetables, grilling steak, mashed or baked potatoes, pasta and bread dipping. It suits anyone who adds garlic to almost everything. Drawback: the garlic flavor is strong by design, so it is less flexible than a plain oil for delicate dishes or baking.
Traditional 18-Year Aged Italian Dark Balsamic Vinegar
Photo: Big Horn Olive Oil
The store's flagship dark balsamic. It says the vinegar is aged 18 years in chestnut, oak, mulberry and ash barrels and lists a density of 1.28 or more with 4% acidity. $8.99 for 60 ml or $23.99 for 375 ml, in stock on October 10, 2026. It suits people who want a rich balsamic for drizzling over cheese, fruit, salad or bread with oil. Drawback: the 18-year aging and the specs are the store's own claims; we found no independent lab test or certification on the page.
Cranberry Pear White Balsamic Vinegar
Photo: Big Horn Olive Oil
A tart, ruby-red white balsamic with cranberry and pear flavor. $8.99 for 60 ml or $23.99 for 375 ml, in stock on October 10, 2026. The store suggests it for salads, marinades, roasted meats and vegetables, and as a glaze for meats and cheeses. With its holiday flavors it fits a Thanksgiving or Christmas table or a food gift. Drawback: it is a fruit-sweet vinegar, so people who prefer savory, classic dressings may use it only now and then.
Whole Fruit Lemon Olive Oil
Photo: Big Horn Olive Oil
The store says this oil is made in small batches from certified organic, early-harvest olives with fresh Eureka lemons. $8.99 for 60 ml or $23.99 for 375 ml, in stock on October 10, 2026. It is suggested for sauteing shrimp and scallops, baking, dressings and granola. It suits seafood lovers and bakers who want a light citrus note. Drawback: like the other oils, it is best used within about 6 months, and the lemon flavor will not suit every dish.

What buyers say
The review widget on bhooc.com showed 4.9 out of 5 from 1,149 reviews on October 10, 2026. These are the store's own collected reviews, so treat them as the brand's side of the story. Reviewers praise the fresh, peppery taste of the oils, the flavored white balsamics (several use them in salads and in sparkling-water drinks) and the staff in the Reno tasting rooms. The bad news we found: one one-star review from March 2026 said the store shipped a different flavor when the one ordered was out of stock; the store replied that it had emailed first and then refunded the order. Summaries of Google and Yelp reviews also point to high prices as the most common complaint. Local press (Our Town Reno, December 2024) reported that some Reno restaurants buy the store's products.
How it compares
- Saratoga Olive Oil Co.: a New York tasting-room brand that also sells flavored white balsamics. A CherryPicks roundup from August 2026 listed its 375 ml balsamics on Amazon between $19.95 and $27.95. A fit if you prefer to order through Amazon.
- Queen Creek Olive Mill: an Arizona olive mill that sells its own oils in 250 ml bottles; its Essentials Set (an olive oil plus an aged balsamic) was listed at $43.50. A fit if you want a US-grown estate oil.
- Big Horn Olive Oil: the pick if you want many flavors in the same two bottle sizes, a cheap 60 ml mini to taste first, and a stated harvest-to-ship window of 1 to 3 months.
Shipping & returns
Big Horn Olive Oil ships only to US addresses, by USPS Priority Mail. The store asks for 24 hours to process an order, transit usually takes 2 to 3 days, and it says most customers receive their package within 4 days. Shipping is free on orders over $60. Returns are the weak point: the refund policy lists perishable goods such as food as non-returnable, and sale items and gift cards cannot be returned either. If a bottle arrives damaged or you get the wrong item, the store asks you to contact it right away at info@bhooc.com so it can make it right.
Who it suits / who should skip
It suits home cooks who want fresh olive oil and flavored vinegars to mix and match, and anyone looking for a food gift for the holidays; the 60 ml minis make it easy to try several flavors. Skip it if you only want one plain cooking oil at supermarket prices, if you need the option to return food you do not like, or if you use olive oil so slowly that a bottle will sit open for more than six months.
